Day 4
Buenos Dias, the message in today’s gospel was a fitting reminder through the Beatitudes and our purpose on this mission trip. A coincidence, I think not!
There is no greater example I can think of than the Sors (nuns) who serve the girls, elderly and the community. Servitude is not a word but a way of life. And, always with a smile.
Today again was filled with true joy and happiness. This morning we had the opportunity to spend time with the elderly; painting, playing checkers, Jenga and more.
When the games come out, it is an amazing sight, wheel chairs a rolling, canes a clicking and smiles beyond belief. They have so much fun, play to win, and have their own set of rules.
After a special lunch with the Sors at the elderly house, many of us had special tasks to complete including finishing our recreational court painting project.
Today was also a school day for the older girls and our new helpers became the chicas (the youngest girls) – imagine the site of young and oil based paint.
Eventually with our helpers back, we finished the project.
The remainder of the day was being present with those we serve.
Dios los bendiga!
