Our travel day went well and we all spent time reflecting and relishing so many moments from the week. From the moment we landed in Honduras last Monday to the moment we waved our last good-byes on Sunday morning, we were embraced and welcomed with the warmest of sentiments. We leave Honduras with an incredible sense of ESPERANZA – HOPE!
HOPE that in many small ways, our contributions are making a difference in the every day life for the elderly. That the quality of their life has improved with better nutrition, medical care, overall improvement of their facilities and their final days will be filled with dignity.
HOPE for the future for the girls in the Hogar de Niñas as education has continued to be a priority thanks to our support. Improvements have been made to address each girl’s mental health with the addition of a trained psychologist. Many capital improvements to the facility also positively affect well-being and quality of life.
HOPE that our hearts truly have been forever changed as we have broken bread, prayed, laughed, cried and been loved by all of our friends in Honduras. Throughout the week, we reflected on Micah, 6:8, “You have been told, O mortal, what is good, and what the Lord requires of you; Only to do justice and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with God”. We HOPE we have lived by these words as stewards of our St. Michael the Archangel community.
It has been another remarkable week that we have been humbled by and incredibly blessed by many graces. Emily Koca prepared a video that beautifully captures many special moments – ENJOY!!!
