Jan. 7: Field Trip and More…

Today was a very fun and busy day. We traveled in a big bus with all the girls for a full day of swimming in the hot springs, a picnic, and playing in the river. It was cool to be able to see the girls outside of the hogar and enjoying the beautiful nature around us. I realized how much I take for granted the opportunities my parents give me back home.

The water was very warm, which was perfect for the gloomy and chilly day we had. Michaela and I taught the girls how to play marco polo and chicken fights! After our picnic lunch, many of the girls adventured to the river to climb and skip the rocks. We headed back later in the afternoon and relaxed before our evening.

After our rosary and dinner at the Hogar de Niñas, we had a career fair for the older girls. Speakers who had a relationship to the home in some way, spoke to the girls about their career and the steps they took after graduating to get to where they are now. One thing that stuck with me was how Mike talked about the two most important things in becoming successful is education and a relationship with God.

So far, this trip has been busy and exciting. Every day is filled with laughter and love. The girls and elderly have brought me closer to God. They inspire me to live my life with more love, faith, happiness, and gratitude. I am so thankful for every moment I am given to spend with these amazing people.
