Open, close, wrap, tuck, weigh, zip, repeat….Packing Night!

The adventure begins long before the bags are packed! We have been gathering, creating and purchasing items for the last 5 months in preparation for this trip. This past Monday evening, volunteers helped to make sure all of these donated and handmade items were carefully packed into our luggage and stayed within the proper weight.

We are especially grateful to the children of our parish (both our school and religious education program) donated handcrafted gifts including small decoupaged boxes depicting Our Blessed Mother, journals, fleece blankets and rosaries to name a few. Parishioners also donated school supplies, umbrellas, towels, and personal care items.

We are grateful to each of our mission team volunteers for giving so generously of their time as stewards of our mission and representatives of SMA. Please join us in prayer for each of the travelers; Sharon Costello, Chris Dierks, Jenny Fain, Lynn Pollock, and Mike Pollock as well as for the nuns, girls, elderly and all we seek to serve in Honduras.

Most Loving God,

Shine your light down on the people in Honduras and let them always feel the warmth of Your love. While they may be lacking in material things, we ask that You bless them with the joy and peace that only You can provide. Guide our thoughts, words and actions as we work together on this mission project so it is Your work and Your purpose we strive to accomplish. May our hearts forever be changed as we witness Your presence and love and may we be inspired by the faith of those we seek to serve in Honduras. We ask this through Christ, Our Lord, Amen.
