Saturday: Welcome!!

What a wonderful long day we were blessed with!  As usual we drove to the airport before the sun rose with our ten suitcases full of donations. Our flights were on time so we made our connection in Atlanta, which was kind of tight, and felt like our guardian angels were with us. We breezed through customs and we were greeted in the airport by two joyful nuns, Sor Rosario and Sor Deysi, a lovely interpreter and our most capable driver, Don Christian.

Our drive up the mountain to Santa Rosa de Copàn was a little slow and kind of bumpy, but it was filled with laughter and a few catnaps. After unloading our goodies we headed over to the Hogar de Nina’s where we were greeted by the most joy filled welcome; singing, confetti, introductions, and many, many hugs.   For those of us who have been here before it was wonderful to see how much some of them have grown and for those who were meeting everyone for the first time it was a surprising delight.  The gratitude the girls and nuns have for our visit reminds each of us that joy is found in the simple things and love for one another.   It was a blessed day!
