St. Michael the Archangel Honduras Mission Project

This great group of parishioners helped pack books, medicine, clothing items, school supplies and small gifts that will be shared at each home we assist in Honduras. Our bags are ready and our hearts are prepared to build relationships with the nuns, young ladies and elderly. Please pray for the safety of our travelers including: Chris Kopecky, Rose Kopecky, Sabrina Kopecky, Samantha Kopecky, Jessica Kozel, John Kozel, Lynn Pollock, Michelle Prier, Jane Rall and Sophia Rall.

This week our theme will be “Called to Be Saints” and we have a variety of activities focused on this theme with both a virtue and a specific Saint as our focus. Our team will also reflect on this theme in our daily prayers and meditations. We are especially grateful to Jenny Fain and Sharon Costello for their help in planning activities for the girls and elderly. Pictured above are many who shared both time and talent with their helping hands to write simple messages to all of the residents. Special thanks to the American Heritage Girls for joining us and for jumping right in with JOY! Additionally thank you to Jessica Klein for coordinating efforts with AHG to prepare small gift bags for each of the girls. Lynn Pollock used her creativity to customize tote bags as well – thank you! We also had extra help getting our medicines logged so we can move through customs in Honduras more efficiently, thank you Maria Koch and Sharon Costello. Thank you to all of our generous parishioners that donated all of the medicine as well as 80 Spanish children’s books.

Most Loving God, You are the master of all creation and we stand in awe of your truth, beauty and goodness. We ask you to shine your light down on the people in Honduras and let them always feel the warmth of Your love. Guide our thoughts, words and actions as we work together on this mission project so it is Your work and Your purpose we strive to accomplish. May our hearts forever be changed as we witness Your presence and love and may we be inspired by the faith of those we seek to serve in Honduras. We ask this through Christ, Our Lord, Amen.
