St. Michael the Archangel Honduras Mission Project

Today we began our day by attending morning mass at the Hogar de Ancianos with our elderly friends. 

Following mass, we loaded up with our Unbound coordinator who took us to meet up with the two boys my husband and I sponsor. I was so excited and looking forward to seeing them!  Franklin is 17 and we have sponsored him for thirteen years. And Jose is 6 and we have sponsored him for two years. 

Both boys are growing and I learned much about their past year and how they are doing in school. 

We enjoyed a delicious lunch and then headed to a small lake to explore and walk around. After that, it was sadly time to say goodbye.  I gave them big hugs and bid them “dios te de bendiga” (God bless you).

Our drive back was an adventure riding in the backend of the pickup truck. It’s the Honduran way.

After an afternoon of some downtime, we headed to the girls home for dinner with the Sors and visiting and interacting with the ninas. We enjoyed a delicious meal and lots of laughs with the Sors telling stories. 

It was a beautiful day, and I was so appreciative for the Unbound visit. Jesus taught us to treat others with love and respect. Through the opportunity Unbound provides in sponsorship, I have experienced firsthand what it means to love others who are different than us. We are called to show His love to others.
