After enjoying breakfast with the Sors, we jumped in the van with Olman, their “chofer,” to head to the Basilica of Our Lady of Suyapa. We celebrated mass with a church FULL of worshippers. Even though we don’t all share the same language, we share the same faith that unites us all together.
We toured the Basilica after mass and we walked through the Holy doors together as part of the Jubilee year. Sor Amanda shared the story of Our Lady of Suyapa.

We also went to the old church (built in 1747), shopped a little, and lit candles that we placed on a repository outside the church.
We headed back to Casa del Nino, enjoyed a bite for lunch, and had a brief rest.
Then it was time to celebrate one last time with the girls. We gave them gifts of school supplies and ties and clips for their hair. They were so appreciative!
Following a very competitive game of futbol,
we went to the chapel for the most exquisite time of adoration of our Eucharistic Lord. The girls sang. We each wrote an intention that we committed to completing this next week and placed it on the altar and then prayed over it. The girls sang some more and it was the most beautiful and peaceful time of adoration.
For dinner, we treated the girls and Sors to Chinese food (something they really like and seldom get a chance to enjoy). Next up, dancing…lots of it!! Fun was had by all!
It’s so hard to say goodbye to these beautiful souls. They have made a huge impact on my heart that I won’t soon forget. You can see the love of God in each one of them. We received so much more than we gave. We shared hugs and lots of photos. Tomorrow we will blow kisses as they head off to school at 6 am.
