Jan. 16, Full day, full hearts!

What a beautiful, heartwarming day we shared in Santa Rosa de Copán, Honduras! Even though the weather was unusually chilly this morning—enough to need an extra layer or two—the warmth of the people more than made up for the cool air.
We began the day at the elder home, gathering for morning Mass. The quiet reverence in the chapel, mixed with the gentle voices of the residents, set such a peaceful tone for everything that followed.
After Mass, the team sat down with the elderly to paint wooden crosses together. There was colorful paint everywhere as each person added their own personal touch to their cross. It was such a joyful, creative time.

Next came the highlight: a big birthday celebration for all the Elderly! We brought out a delicious cake and had a blessing from Father Brian. The joy was contagious—what a gift to celebrate life together.
From there, we headed to lunch with the sisters, enjoying good food and even better conversation. Then it was time to prepare for the afternoon’s big event: The Arise retreat for the older girls at the girls’ home.

We spent the early afternoon decorating the space and putting the finishing touches on all the fun surprises we have planned for the rest of our time together. The excitement was building!
The retreat itself, led so beautifully by Sister Lucia and Sister Monica, was truly moving. Their words, activities, and love touched every heart in the room. It was one of those times where you could feel the Holy Spirit present.

We also enjoyed a lively dinner as one big group—the sisters, the girls, and our whole team. The courtyard was filled with chatter, laughter, and the kind of energy that comes from genuine connection. What a fun, loving group!

As the chilly evening settles in, we’re all so grateful for this day and already excited to see what tomorrow holds. God is doing beautiful things here in Santa Rosa de Copán!  Alyson
