It is hard to believe this is our final day. Where did the week go?
The day began with walking the girls to the Cathedral for Sunday Mass. In my previous trips to Honduras, it was the first time the travel team was invited to the altar and given a prayer of gratitude and a blessing for a safe trip back – a very moving experience.

The remainder of the day was spent saying our goodbyes and sharing gifts with the elderly, girls and Sors.

We were treated to a special lunch at the elderly home, including wholly prepared coconuts. Additionally, we were serenaded with songs of gratitude. It felt like the angels singing to us.
In the afternoon, the girls put on an exhibition of music and dance. Eventually, they invited each of us to show our dancing skills. Much fun, but may need some pain medicines tomorrow.

After serving pizza for dinner, we experienced the highlight of the entire day. We awarded medals for Olympics 2024 Honduran style. Group winners were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals including Olympic themed medal music.
Upon playing the Honduras National Anthem for the winners, we were captivated by the enthusiasm and loyalty for their country. When the song started, everyone rose to their feet and proudly sang at the top of there lungs. A sight I will never forget.
It is hard to express the emotions on the final day. For those who have traveled to Honduras, you can relate.
There is one thing in common between our family in Honduras and at SMA, we are blessed to have each other in our lives.
Adios, Miguel
