A Day of Dignity, Play, and Prayer, July 8

Our morning started with breakfast with the Sisters!  We learned from a tour of the grounds at the Senior Living Facility that we are in a type of the Garden of Eden!  Honduras is a lush country.  The Sisters have lime trees, papaya trees, what look like avocados, and other various sundry fruits and vegetables.  Breakfast included fresh pineapple and papaya.

We learned some of the elderly at the nursing home were picked up off the streets or brought to the home by the police.  These elderly people find a home with the sisters and their dignity is recovered.  These senior citizens have no resources to pay for their care at the senior living facility.  Their care comes from the charity of others.  We thank all the St. Michael parishioners for supporting our Honduras Mission.

Time at the girls home included mass in Spanish and a half an hour of Adoration.  One of the graduates of the home, Karol, provided praise and worship music during Adoration.  It was beautiful.  The girls were very reverent.  We had lots of time today for play and interaction with the girls.  Highlights included ice cream, a walk in the park, then back to the girl’s home for games:  four square, playing with the volleyball, and street chalk!

The sisters are feeding us well which has led to some afternoon food comas and the need for an afternoon siesta.  We are enjoying the mild climate and 70 degree temps!

Padre Brian
