As we prepared for our take off to Honduras this morning, my morning reflection provided me with a path to follow for the day.
“Lord, today by your grace, let me actively seek you out, through prayer and meditation, and bring before you the needs of those who long to touch the tassel of your cloak and be healed.”
As with the first day of any trip, there is always a sense of excitement and maybe a little anxiety as we begin our mission.
However, the anxiety was quickly transmitted into joy. The first experience came early on as a few travelers spotted Fr. Brian in the airport. He was able to provide them forgiveness and blessings through the sacrament of reconciliation – our faith in action.
After this experience, there was little doubt how the remainder of the day would unfold.
With flights on time and no issues going through customs (I think a man with a collar always helps) we were warmly greeted by our friends to Honduras.
Along the slow drive, Fr. Brian led us in a multi-language Rosary – one decade in English and the Sor’s (nuns) one Spanish. What an unbelievable example of the universal church.
Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted at the elderly home by all the Sor’s.
After evening Mass, we went to the girls home (Hogar de Nina’s) and were greeted with fireworks, music, hugs dancing and a traditional Honduran dinner with girls.
After a long day, we finished with our closing meditation with highlights of our day (too many blessings to mention).
Please continue to keep the girls, elderly, the Sor’s and the travel team in your prayers.
paz y bien,
Mike (aka Miguel)
