Jan. 6: Quinceañera

Today was such a beautiful day spent with the girls. Five of the girls in the orphanage turned fifteen this year so we celebrated their Quinceañera.  It was wonderful to help them  get ready for their special day this morning and so special to see how they all help each other and cheer for each other.  They have a special bond.

The Quinceañera mass was extra special.  The way all the girls participate, especially their singing, is inspirational for all of us.  We felt so honored to be with them and they made us feel so much a part of it.

After some shopping downtown with the 5 girls for a special treat, we returned to the church to recite the rosary together as one big family. I think one thing we all noticed was how much these girls care for each other and how much joyous laughter there is in their home.

We share each of our meals with the nuns who give us a little insight as to their life in the homes. They too make us laugh and feel so grateful.  Here they don’t have as much luxury as we do at home in the states, but they have each other and so much love.  God is Good.

Brings back so many happy memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you, the team, the girls, the elderly and the sors. Who are the girls who celebrated their quinceanera? They look so grown up!

I ditto what Ann says. What a special time for the girls and to have had a chance to experience it with a few of them was just as special to me. Sending prayers for the entire week and all participants to make great memories and of course, get a little work done to help the Sors.
