During the final evening program, one of the young ladies at the Hogar de Niñas shared the message from the picture above, here is the translation:
“Every act of love is a work of peace, no matter how small”.. St. Teresa of Calcutta
Thank you infinitely for the time spent with each one of you this week and for your acts of love and kindness. We truly feel grateful because we know that everything that you do for us is done with a lot of love. We know that not everyone leaves their family to share with others. For every activity you do with us, you leave us more and more knowledge, because of your joy and passion to serve, you have taught us to not live for ourselves but for others. We know that those who give with joy, receive more. You convey to us your joy and make our hearts happy. We also thank you for your teachings, that not only prepare us for the moment, but for a lifetime. May God pour out abundant blessings on each of you and your families, and may our Blessed Mother protect you along with each member of the St. Michael’s parish, and may the Venerable Mother Paula watch over you.
Many blessings,
Hogar de Niñas

We too leave Honduras with a deep sense of JOY, GRATITUDE and WONDER as we learned much from spending time with the residents of each home. Life is not perfect here nor back at home BUT we do in our small way try to help impact the day-to-day lives of the nuns, girls and elderly. Our meditations this week focused on the “Little Way” of loving as witnessed by St. Thérèse of Lisieux and St. Teresa of Calcutta. One quote from St. Thérèse “merit is not found in doing much or giving much but rather in receiving and in loving much”. Oftentimes, from our first world culture, our instinct is to focus on material gifts, doing more activities etc. which all have a place BUT in this moment and in our time in Honduras, being receptive to receiving the many graces before us pouring ourselves out in love is a far greater gift. There was no coincidence that a quote from St. Teresa of Calcutta was used in the message above but clearly divine providence.
Our travel on Wednesday is always a bit tedious but without a doubt, each of us left with full hearts. “Give of your hands to serve, your hearts to love”…St. Teresa of Calcutta
Please join me in gratitude to each of these volunteers this week that shared so generously of their hearts and hands – Jenny Fain, Cesar Gomez, Maria Koch, & Jessica Kozel.
So until we meet again, ¡Paz y bien! Juanita
It was indeed a trip filled with much love and joyous moments. Thank you to Jane for her tireless efforts to ensure that everything went as it should and kept us on track. Thank you for beautifully summarizing our experience with the wonderful people at the Hogar de Niñas and Ancianos. Paz y Bien!
